Old Mill Run

October 2, 2022

We sold our sticks and bricks home and moved into our camper officially on April 24, 2022. We wanted to stay somewhere local near friends, family, and our church while getting the feel of full time camper living!

Old Mill Run Campground (OMR) is located in Thorntown, Indiana about an hour from Indianapolis, Indiana and situated out in the country yet still close to the interstate. A lot of seasonal campers stay here, and because of such, its like a big family feel! We love that about OMR!

Its a fairly large campground, however they do have strict rules which keep their campground clean and quiet. There is plenty to do for the whole family. They have a heated outdoor pool, several playgrounds, mini golf, two ponds for fishing, mining for treasure, and have regular activity schedules such as corn hole tournaments, DJ, Bingo, and even wagon rides! If you’re lucky enough to get a spot during a holiday, you will likely see a golf cart parade where your kids will be sure to get MORE than enough candy!

One of our favorite things about OMR is the access to the creek! If you hike back far enough it leads right down to the creek bed where it is often shallow enough for the little ones to play and wade!

There’s plenty of space to take walks which was one of our favorite things to do. And….let’s be honest, we loved checking out all the different campers and their seasonal set ups! There is a cafe in the bingo hall that is open on the weekends that sells pizzas, snacks, and refreshments and from time to time they have a free dinner provided. There is a camp store located at the office, a game room, and a laundromat that is a reasonable price! They’ve really thought of everything here!

Now, for more technical stuff! They have showers and bathrooms for your use if you wish. Full-hookups and can handle any size rig you have. The office is great at helping you navigate where would be the best place for you to stay. This is a very popular campground in the area and you will need to reserve ahead of time for the most part especially if wanting to stay on a weekend. They do have a lot of rules (but this makes it a nice campground!), quiet hours, keeping your campsite tidy (THANK YOU!) and no rugs allowed on any grassy parts of your campsite to preserve the grass, dogs must be on leash however no breed restrictions, and other rules that are clearly stated on their website which I will include below!
